Listening for Opportunity: AIIP 2019 Panel
Posted on August 25, 2019
We joined many interesting people running information businesses at the Association of Independent Information Professionals Conference (AIIP) in Philadelphia, PA in May this year. Thanks you to everyone we met, spoke with, learned from, and all who attended our panel presentation.
AIIP participants blogged the content of the panel and share the 10 tips our panel discussed at the AIIP blog. I have to say working with panelists Jan Knight, Bancroft Information Systems; and Jane Langeman, Langeman Consulting was the highlight of preparing the panel discussion. While we wanted the discussion to be organic and free-flowing, similar to our way or working, we also wanted to be sure we covered each of the important ways we work with our clients to be their trusted resource for critical projects.
The panel shared our top 10 tips for growing a business, examples from our individual experiences, and how we plan to use the tips in our business growth plans. My personal top three tips are listed below:
- Volunteering often leads to new business
- “Tell me more” is a great way to help clients clarify their needs and winnow scope
- Cross-pollinating ideas across industries creates innovation and is your unique value
Subscribe to our blog and watch for future posts with details on the tips. Whether you’re running your own small business and looking for ideas for 2020 planning, or you’re considering hiring my company and want to know how we leverage our knowledge and network to your advantage – these posts will give you insight into how we offer value to you.
